16 00002 Video: Camden Mayor Redd – 2016 State of the City test

Last week, Mayor Dana Redd of Camden gave her sixth state of the city address. Throughout the speech, the second term mayor list partnerships, projects, and plans for the future of the city. [See Courier Post story here.] Among the list of parnters mentioned throughout the speech: Liberty Property Trust, Holtec, 76ers, Contemporary Graphics, EMR, PCM, Webimax, Brandywine, Subaru, YMCA, The Eds & Meds [Rutgers, Rowan, Camden County College, Cooper, Virtua, and Our Lady of Lourdes], the South Jersey Chamber of Commerce, and KIPP Norcross Academy. In the speech, the mayor briefly mentioned a task force that will give recommendations on increasing employment in the city. She said several times "we will never forget our residents". Other projects mentioned were new market rate and affordable housing, demolition of vacant collapsing properties, and renovating public parks. With education, Mayor Redd discussed new parent centers, Camden enrollment, Safe Corridors, and the superintendent's Camden Commitment.
